78 Youth Sports Spring Programs Update
Dear 78 Youth Sports Family;
During this unprecedented time for our community, I remind myself to look for the people working to help and reduce the suffering of our families and neighbors. Like so many of you, thanking our healthcare workers has become a daily ritual that reminds me how much I love Brooklyn.
Given the current mandates for social distancing and the Mayor’s cancellation of large group gatherings through June, our Baseball, Softball and Basketball seasons are officially postponed.
We are monitoring guidelines carefully and we are planning for multiple scenarios for Summer and Fall programming and want to be ready to execute programs as soon as we are able.
The Board of Directors is determined that 78 Youth Sports will persevere during these challenging times. We are going to need your help. We ask that if you have a fee paid to 78 Youth Sports for any of our Baseball, Softball and Basketball Programs you convert your fee to a donation to the organization. If we are able to run your program in 2020, you will not be charged for your child to participate. We are fiscally responsible, but we rely on program fees to operate, and we have incurred expenses in preparation for our various programs. To convert your fee to a donation, please email email@example.com.
During the last decade, our growth has far surpassed the abilities of volunteer parents to manage and execute our programs. Turning to a professional staff and adding an office allows us to better be able to meet the demands of a growing young population, to create systems that enhanced our communication with you, and to execute thoughtful and effective programs. At the same time, we have run efficiently and kept our pricing as low as possible. We have never turned away a family who could not afford a fee.
We are doing all we can to retain our terrific staff, who are working hard on plans for adaptive sports programming that prioritizes the health and safety of our families. Additionally, we are moving programming online with fun, motivational content. Please follow us on Instagram and Facebook @78youthsports.
I have been honored to be Chair of 78 Youth Sports for nearly five years. My son started playing rec baseball when he was five years old, became a Bulldog at nine, and is now pursuing his dream of playing baseball in college. The significant role that 78 Youth Sports has played in my family’s life is hard to overstate. Passing these same opportunities to the next generation in our community is of paramount importance as we move forward.
I wish your family health and safety. Thank you.
Chair, Board of Directors
